Long before the Golden Order governed the Lands Between under Queen Marika the Eternal, there existed ancient Numens and their kin who established magnificent metropolises across the continent. Chief among these was Nokron and its twin city, Nokstella.

The inhabitants, known as the Nox, possessed unparalleled mastery over metallurgy, astrology, and primordial alchemy. However, their philosophy stood in direct opposition to the cosmic sovereignty of the Greater Will and its Golden Order. They actively sought to cast down the Greater Will, seeking the ushering of an Age of the Stars and an artificial Lord of Night.

The Fingerslayer Blade: Relic of Deicide

The pinnacle of the Nox's defiance was the forging of the Fingerslayer Blade. Unlike ordinary blades crafted from iron or meteorite, this dagger was carved directly from the flesh and bone of a slain deity.

The blade possessed the dread capability of harming the Greater Will and its envoys, the Two Fingers. It is widely theorized that the creation or utilization of this deicide weapon was the very catalyst that incited the divine wrath of the Greater Will. In retribution, the Greater Will dispatched the Astel, Naturalborn of the Void—a celestial star-beast of destruction—which stole their surface sky and cast their civilization into the pitch-black subterranean depths.

The Silver Tears: Quest for an Artificial Lord

Deprived of their natural sovereign and sunlight, the scholars of Nokron refused to surrender their ambition. They turned to advanced bio-alchemy, experimenting with living fluid metals to create the Silver Tears.

These mercurial organisms could assimilate into any form, mimic weapon techniques, and mimic human cognition. The ultimate goal of this experiment was the creation of a Mimic Tear capable of ascending to the throne as the true Lord of Night. Though the city fell into stagnation, the Mimic Tears survived, guarding the bridges and sanctums of Nokron indefinitely.
